Leyna Nguyen

Co-President

Leyna Nguyen is a high school senior from Kempner High School in Sugar Land, Texas and a proud Vietnamese-American, who has always had a passion for speaking up about her heritage. She believes that using our voice to tell the world our unique narratives is the key to fighting against the stigma of being a minority whose racism is often normalized in society. When she's not busy trying to make a difference for the world, she loves to go to temple, hang out with her friends, bake and write for fun!

Kelvin Phung

Co-President

Kelvin Phung is currently a high school senior at Dulles High School in Sugar Land, Texas. He has always been passionate about his Asian identity and strives to raise more awareness about the unique issues that many Asian Americans face in society, from the lack of Asian American representation in media to outright normalized racism against Asians. When he's not hanging out with his two dogs, Kelvin enjoys chatting with his friends, watching movies and TV shows, and drawing! He also loves to learn more about his Vietnamese and Chinese roots.

Jingzhuo Zhang

Social Media Exec

Jingzhuo Zhang is a junior at Clements High School and a proud Chinese-American. She is deeply connected with her heritage and culture and believes that your heritage is a key part of who you are. She wants to help show the world the importance of embracing and discovering the beauty of your culture. With these ideas in mind, she is excited to work with DAY to make a difference in the community. In her free time, Jing enjoys hanging out with her friends, watching dramas, practicing her photography skills, and exploring the world around her.

Head of Graphic Design

Catherine is a senior at Dulles High School who deeply values her Chinese heritage. The thread woven through generations makes up who we are, and she wishes to spread that pride by sharing aspects of her culture with the world through art. Apart from that, she is also quite fond of karate, manga, and classical music.

Anisha Rasamsetty

Chapter Liaison

Anisha Rasamsetty is a senior at Dulles High School and spends much of her time competing on their varsity debate team. She has a great appreciation for her South Asian culture, and she loves to learn more about it. Whenever she has free time, she likes to play tennis, tutor, and bake (although she admits that she’s not very good at it yet). She is excited to be a part of this organization and can’t wait to learn more about the cultures and experiences around her!

Leah Pachikara

Projects Director

Leah Pachikara is a high school senior from Kempner High School in Sugar Land, Texas who is extremely impassioned about her South Asian-Indian culture. She strives to help uplift Asian Americans as well as other minority groups who are struggling with racism and speak out about ongoing issues within the Asian community. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, listening to music, and playing with her dog.

Kelsey Wong

Secretary

Kelsey Wong is a senior at Kempner High School and loves showing pride in her heritage. She believes that everyone should have the ability to be comfortable in their own skin as she appreciates all ethnicities and wishes for others to cherish their special cultures regardless of established derogatory standards in society. Using our voice to retaliate against the racist stereotype that has become the societal norm is a goal of hers to enforce the idea that everyone should be treated equally by the golden rule. In her free time, Kelsey enjoys baking, watching tv shows and movies, and hanging out with her friends and family whenever she gets the chance.

Jesline Simon

Treasurer

Jesline Simon is a senior at Dulles High School who harbors an ardent appreciation of her South Asian culture. She wants to help others who struggle to cherish their heritage due to societal stereotyping and standards by spreading the beauty that blooms from every ethnicity. In her free time, Jesline enjoys reading, writing, and occasionally singing when she gets the chance.

Cristeena Josphien

Social Media Exec

Cristeena is a current senior at Dulles High School, and she loves to get involved in her community within and outside of school. She strives to promote the unique diversity in Fort Bend ISD and to help others embrace their identity. Cristeena is also a dancer who loves to get active and try new things!
